I used a black dye on the quilted maple which is the drawer fronts and back of the box and let it penetrate into the wood. I then sanded the quilted maple to leave only the deepest penetrating dye creating this effect. It reminds me a little of the shroud of tourin and I couldn't be happier with the results. The quilted maple has been wrapped in birdseye maple for dramatic effect and contrast. This style of making boxes that are hybrid bandsaw and traditional boxes are unique to my shop and you'll have a hard time finding even a square drawer on any other bandsaw box on any site. The box measures 15 and a half inches wide x 11 and a half inches tall x 7 and a half inches deep and weighs 13 pounds. I finished the box in gloss lacquer and wet sanded to obtain a smooth surface. The box would look great anywhere and has ample room for jewelry or trinkets. The drawers are flocked with brown fibers and are securely in place.
