A whole slew of hardwoods went into this set!!! The birdseye maple and claro walnut squares are encased with mahogany and are wrapped with a mahogany and claro border. The diamonds outer row is purple heart followed inward by wenge and the inner 4 are ebony. The box is claro walnut with purple heart accents. The claro used for the box is full of curl and tremendous beauty. I kept the purple heart theme by using it on the capstones also. The set includes the board, box, with 60 flat stones and 2 cap stones. The board measures 9 and a half inches and is 3 quarters of an inch thick. I finished the set in satin lacquer and wet sanded for a smooth surface. Take is a registered trademark of cheapass games and all licensing fees have been paid.

I recently got hooked on this game, and started looking for a nice wooden board that I could keep out on an end table. This is an absolutely beautiful board with excellent finishing. Lastly, shipping was speedy and on time.
