A lot of purple heart went into this box. I cut the drawer frames and the case extra thick to show more of the purple heart. The back is a solid 3 quarter inches thick of purple heart giving this unit a solid and strong appearance. I made the bottom curve more extreme on this unit also. The mappa burl on the drawer fronts is a great touch and adds an abundant amount of character to the piece. For the drawers i used felt up the sides and bottom but left the front and back of the drawers with the wood showing. This is a big bandsaw box. Most builders build their boxes much smaller and half as deep as I do. Therefore this and all my boxes are more suited for jewelry and trinkets. This unit would look good anywhere in the house and is a beautiful piece of handmade art. The box measures 11 and 3 quarter inches wide x 8 inches tall x 5 inches deep. I finished the box with several coats of satin polyurethane and several coats of danish oil.
