The first box in the new shop and first of 2018. Ive been really itching to get back to work in the woodshop and this is what I came up with. I used some claro walnut and included the sapwood for some contrast. The walnut is full of figure and very appealing. Ive had this piece of wild cherry laying around for a long time and thought that it would go well with the walnut. The plywood was added for some stability and certain kinds will use cherry for the inner core for strength. I use it quite a bit for my boxes because in my opinion can add a dimension to the art. For the drawers I used felt only on the bottom and two sides. I didn't felt the front and back because wanted the wood to show inside. I finished the box with four coats of satin polyurethane. The box measures 11 and 3 quarter inches wide x 6 and a half inches tall x 4 and a half inches deep.
